Today is a special day for me. Not only is it Valentine’s Day, but it’s also my birthday!!! Yes, I’m 29 again!!!!!!!
I feel like I’ve been a bit of a cranky blogger so far, so in honor of this special day, here are some things that make me happy:
- I’m happy that I have created an extraordinary personal learning network (see e.g. my blogroll) from which I learn all the time. I hope I can now contribute to the learning that goes on.
- I’m happy when I read about placees like SLA and High Tech High and Lemon Grove. I’ll be happier when those places are the norm rather than the exception.
- I’m happy that I have an opportunity to work on a daily basis with sitting and aspiring school leaders in the greater Richmond area who are advancing their own learning and at least willing to listen to my rantings about 21st Century schooling.
- I’m happy that I met two extraordinary people. One introduced me to the ed. tech. field and who continues to push my own thinking as a teacher, researcher and advocate. As one small example, he wrote this nearly 10 years ago. The other inspires me daily as she models leadership qualities such as trust, transparency and vision that I hold in such high respect. Though not formally trained as an attorney, she embodies the ethical code to which all lawyers are bound: zealous advocacy. Thanks friends!
- Mostly, I’m happy that I have the most incredible wife in the world (sorry guys, but I’m not flexible here; I won!). I learn from my personal learning network, but not nearly as much as I learn from her emotional intelligence. And, for the last 2.75 years, we’ve been watching our little guy grow in ways that make me happy every second of the day.
Happy day everyone!
