Albert Shanker, the late president of the American Federation of Teachers, observed that, “Schools are the last unreformed institution from the 19^th Century which are about to trundle, unchanged, into the 21^st Century.” Reform efforts at all levels of our educational system tinker (at best) at the margins, and the institution of public schooling continues to wallow in the status quo.

As a professor of educational leadership, I am using this blog as a space to be a public intellectual; a place for me to share my thoughts and ideas on issues that lie at the intersection of at least three areas:
